Silver Spring, MD Sailor's DeLite, LLC, has announced the introduction of it's newest product, the STUBBY-1TM solar-powered light, designed specifically for boats having tubular rails measuring 7/8 to 1-1/8" diameter. The new design is intended to find broad application on power boats, which make up a large portion of the worldwide boat market, and which normally use horizontal rails with swept stanchions.
"Our company's first solar light product was designed for vertical stanchions, which are common on sailboats, but since its introduction, many power boaters have asked us for a product to meet their needs" said company spokesman Milo Shepherd. "Many powerboats feature swept stanchions and horizontal rails, rather than vertical stanchions like are common on sailboats" he said. "this is a rail-mounted device that will certainly fit many sailboat needs. such as bow and stern pulpits, but it is expected to find great accptance in the powerboat market."
"Like our original lite, the STUBBY-1TM features our trademark Sailor's DeLite Pacific BlueTM cord, which is exclusive to our company. "It provides an added measure of security for our product" Shepherd said. "and is just one way that we differentiate ourselves from others in the marketplace. We plan to promote this new product vigorously and price it competitively, with the goal of becoming the brand of choice in the markets we serve". Shephard said that test marketing of the new light showed "strong potential", which ultimately led to the company's decision to tool up for large-scale production of the new solar device.
The new lite is currently in pilot production at the company's Maryland works, and will enter distribution in time for the spring boating season. The expected retail price for the new STUBBY-1TM solar light is $24.95
